Most of us take pictures and videos while on a trip and share only a tiny amount of them with friends and family. TravelTrac is for those of us who might want to share a lot more.
Unveiling at this week’s DEMOfall 09 conference, TravelTrac lets you create your own online travel magazine, while you’re still on the go. It has an iPhone app — and upcoming BlackBerry and Android apps — that allow the dynamic movement of content such as photos, videos, and text into web pages that are like trip reports. That content is automatically geotagged, or marked with a location using the phone’s location technology.
So your travels can show up on a custom Google Map. When you upload two or more pictures, it creates a slide show icon that your friends and family can click upon on the travel page. When you are off the grid, you can line up posts that can be posted later when you have a wireless connection.
You can share your travel adventures as they happen. You can share this with friends and family, who will see a multimedia presentation of your trip. Or you can post the trips publicly for everyone to see. The site has subdomains for sharing different kinds of travels. There’s MotoTrac for car and RV adventures; TrekTrac for hikes and other land-based explorations; and SailTrac for water adventures.
