Kohei Uchimura, one of three Konami gymnasts who competed in the 2012 London Olympics for Japan, has won the gold medal in the Men’s Individual All-Around Gymnastics event. Two other Konami gymnasts, Koji Yamamuro and Yusuke Tanaka, also competed.

The three gymnasts are employees of Konami Sports & Life Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Konami Corporation, the company known for Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, and Silent Hill, among other games.
According to the Asashi Shimbun, Uchimura’s mother, Shuko, was shouting at the top of her lungs from the stands. “I wanted to provide the best support by letting out the loudest cheers,” she said.

All of Konami’s Facebook pages also posted the news, praising Uchimura for his accomplishment: “Congratulations to our Konami colleague Kohei Uchimura for winning the men’s all-around gymnastics gold medal at the London Olympic Games 2012!”
In addition to the three gymnasts, a fourth Konami athlete named Takuro Fujii competed in swimming.
