‘iPhone 5’ name revealed via Apple.com’s search engine (update: 4G LTE too)

Just a few hours before Apple's iPhone event begins, it appears that the company's own search engine has revealed the iPhone 5 name.

Just a few hours before Apple’s iPhone 5 event begins, it appears that the company’s own search engine has confirmed the iPhone 5 name, reports 9to5Mac.

A search for the phrase “iPhone 5” on the Apple.com search engine returned the below results, which seems to make the new iPhone’s name pretty clear. Given that Apple displayed a huge “5” on its invitation for today’s event, this additional bit of confirmation isn’t too surprising.

Update: The search engine also suggests that the iPhone 5 will indeed have LTE connectivity, which is something we’ve been expecting since last year.

At this point, it seems like there are few details about the iPhone 5 that we don’t already know. A plethora of leaks and rumors have pointed to the major upgrades: a longer 4-inch display, a thinner body, and a metal rear. I’m hoping there are still some major details we haven’t yet heard about.

The search sleuthing also revealed that Apple will announce a new iPod Touch and iPod Nano today.

Keep an eye on VentureBeat, as we’ll be reporting live from Apple’s event today.
