Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed today that the company will be producing its first Made in America Mac product in none other than the Republic of Texas. Yee to the haw!
In statements made to the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, Cook said the $100 million setup will use machinery made in Kentucky and Michigan and components from Illinois and Florida.
“But there’s nothin’ dirty goin’ on,” the CEO may or may not have said in conclusion.*

Apple manufacturer Foxconn has assembly facilities in Texas and has been a longtime Apple partner in its Asian manufacturing and assembly process, so most folks are assuming Foxconn will be involved in the Lone Star State operations as well.
Apple’s date with the Senate is all about its offshore operations — specifically, how income from those offshore operations netted the company a whole boatload of money that Apple never got around to paying taxes on. Maybe there is somethin’ dirty goin’ on after all.
