If you haven’t preordered your Xbox One or PlayStation 4 by now, it’s unlikely that you’ll get either of those consoles on launch day … unless you go to Walmart this Saturday.
The world’s largest retail chain said today that customers can head to a Walmart location on Saturday, Aug. 24, and preorder one or both consoles for the opportunity to get the devices when they launch.
“We know millions of our customers can’t wait to get their hands on the Xbox One and PS4,” Walmart senior vice president of entertainment Laura Phillips said. “As the current market-share leader in video game hardware and accessories, customers can trust Walmart to have the latest gaming consoles and new releases available at a great low price.”
It works like this. On Aug. 24, go to any Walmart and put down a 10 percent payment. That’s $40 for a PlayStation 4 and $50 for an Xbox One. And as long as you pay off the console by their respective release date, you can pick yours up the day they go on sale.
