Blizzard has unleashed its greatest attack on the world’s productivity, and you can download it for free on your iPad right now.
The developer finally released Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft for iPad in the U.S. and other worldwide territories today. This comes after a few weeks of a soft launch that saw the game debut in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The free-to-play game has players dueling against each other with customizable decks of cards that represent minions, spells, and more.
The card-battler debuted on PC earlier this year, and it’s already moved up the downloadable and top-grossing charts on iPad in its soft-launch regions. It will likely continue to find even more success now that players around the globe can get access to it from their iPads.

Hearthstone represents Blizzard’s first big foray into free-to-play and mobile gaming. Players can enter matches at no cost and at any time use their own decks. The developer makes money by charging players either in-game gold or real money for booster packs or entrance into an Arena mode that could net players a bunch of virtual goods.
In Canada, Hearthstone is currently the 13th highest-grossing game on iPad. The most popular in-app purchase on the iPad version is the $10 bundle of seven booster packs. The fifth most-popular microtransation is a $50 bundle of 40 decks.
Blizzard isn’t done with Hearthstone. The company is working on Android and iPhone versions of the card battler. It also recently announced a single-player adventure mode that will enable players to take on a computer and to earn new cards.
