Dropbox’s second acquisition today is Hackpad.
Just after buying Loom to own your photos, Dropbox is entering into Google Drive territory with the acquisition of Hackpad.
Hackpad offers collaborative document editing tools, not unlike the services provided by Google Docs. Unlike Loom, however, it appears Hackpad will live on following the deal:
“Hackpad will continue to be supported for both existing and new customers, and we’ll continue to work closely with the innovative teams that choose to make Hackpad their home. We hope that you will continue to use Hackpad and reach out to us with your feedback and suggestions.”
As for Dropbox’s Loom deal, the photo-sharing app will shut down and the team will work on Dropbox’s Carousel app. Back in October, Loom raised $1.4 million from Google Ventures and other investors.
