Today WordPress announced the release of WordPress 4.0, a new update that tweaks the writing experience and introduces a redesigned look for the content management system’s plugin and media library pages.
Now, when WordPress users go to write a new post, embedded videos and tweets will automatically display in the “visual” compose window. And browsing photos in the media library now feels a bit more immersive, with a full-screen grid design. As for the updated plugin browser, WordPress shares that it has improved the built-in plugin search tool and now displays additional metrics that reflect the popularity and stability of a plugin.

Although the changes won’t rattle WordPress at its core, this update is noteworthy due to the sheer size of WordPress’ influence. As we wrote last month, WordPress and WordPress.com parent company Automattic runs over 23 percent of the Web, including VentureBeat.com.
