The French gadget maker Parrot knows that you’re going to forget to water your plants. That’s why it created the Parrot Pot, the second generation of its connected indoor or outdoor plant pot.
It has a 2-liter reservoir of water that it uses sparingly, so it can stretch the watering out over a longer period of time. It can go as long as one month based on smart autonomous irrigation. I saw a demo of the new version at the 2015 International CES, and I took the video below.
The Parrot Pot has a library of knowledge about 8,000 plants, and it irrigates the plants with exactly the right amount of water each time, said Parrot’s Jerome Bouvard, in an interview with VentureBeat at CES. The system can be controlled via a mobile app, and it assures that each plant will get the right amount of water each time, he said.
But with 8,000 plants in its database, there’s one plant in particular that many Parrot Pot customers are particularly interested in growing, and that’s cannabis — or so Parrot founder Henri Seydoux told us last summer in Paris.
