While the Apple Watch might be getting all the chatter this week, Apple also made a big deal out of something it called “Force Touch” at its big Spring Forward event.
The new trackpad, as explained by Apple exec Phil Schiller on stage, produces tactile feedback so you actually feel things happening on the screen. The world might call that “haptic,” but Apple being Apple, the company decided to invent its own name for it. Also, the pressure-sensitive touch triggers different commands depending on how long or hard you press.
How does this magical fairy technology work? The folks at iFixit took apart a MacBook Pro to get a closer look inside.
