Netatmo has revealed the Presence, a smart outdoor security camera that will send you an alert if someone is loitering around your house, if a pet is in the yard, or if a car enters your driveway.
The product is one more piece of the smart home, which is expected to become a $71 billion market by 2018, according to Jupiter Research. Netatmo unveiled the Presence at the 2016 International CES, the big tech trade show in Las Vegas taking place this week.
The company said that the Presence uses a deep-learning algorithm called Smart Sight to figure out what the camera is seeing. The alerts will say things like, “person seen,” “animal seen,” or “car seen.” Beyond basic security functions, the camera can alert you when a delivery person drops off a package and no one is there to receive it or allow you to keep tabs on a vacation home.
The Presence also has an integrated floodlight, and it can record infrared images at night. Users can customize the level of alerts they wish to receive, and can set up smart zones that are monitored by the camera. The camera has a 100-degree field of view and a 20-meter range.

The security camera uses encryption and passes along data via Wi-Fi connections. Alerts will be sent if the Presence is accessed from an unapproved Internet Protocol address. Data storage does not require an additional subscription fee.
The product will be available in the third quarter of this year.
