iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X: What Apple changed

At Apple’s September 2017 event in Cupertino today, the company announced its iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, successors to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as well as the iPhone X, a new flagship to commemorate the device’s 10th anniversary. Apple’s 11th-generation phones are now official.

Preorders for the first two begin September 15, and the devices will begin shipping September 22. Due to supply constraints and manufacturing delays, you’ll have to wait until October 27 to preorder the iPhone X, and until November 3 for the latest and greatest Apple phone to ship.

Before you get your credit card ready, and assuming you’re not enthused about Android 8.0 Oreo (that’s really your only option, as Windows 10 Mobile and BlackBerry are dead), you might want to see exactly what you’re getting. The tables below show you what Apple has changed, comparing the iPhone 7 to the iPhone 8, the iPhone 7 Plus to the iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone 8 Plus to the iPhone X, at the time of each of their respective launches.
