Microsoft today released a new Windows 10 preview for PCs with just three bug fixes. The company is simultaneously finalizing the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, which is expected to arrive on October 17, and developing the update that will come after it.
Windows 10 is a service, meaning it was built in a very different way from its predecessors so it can be regularly updated with not just fixes, but new features, too. Microsoft has released many such updates, including three major ones: November Update, Anniversary Update, and Creators Update.
This release is unlikely to be the final Fall Creators Update build as it doesn’t allow you to install additional language packs. Pre-existing language packs will carry over and work just fine.
Because Microsoft is now focusing on stability for the Fall Creators Update, these builds tend not to include new features. Indeed, this one only has three fixes:

- Fixed an issue where Hyper-V couldn’t create a VM on third-party network storage.
- Fixed an issue where for the first few minutes after clean installing a non-English build, many inbox app names might unexpectedly appear with English app names.
- Fixed an issue where gaming apps using WebView with heavy use of HTML canvas might have unexpectedly had very low FPS in recent flights.
Today’s update bumps the Windows 10 build number for PCs from 16294 (made available to testers on September 20) to build 16296. Microsoft no longer tracks or lists known issues, so install at your own risk.
