Bend the knee to the new mobile Game of Thrones: Conquest

For fans of the fantasy saga Game of Thrones, the night is dark and full of delays, as the final season might not air until 2019. To take the sting out of the wait, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and HBO are announcing a new mobile game, Game of Thrones: Conquest, which will debut for iOS and Android on October 19.

The Turbine studio is translating the battle for the Seven Kingdoms for the mobile screen. It’s no stranger to working with blockbuster fantasy franchises. Previously, Turbine developed the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Lord of the Rings Online. Warner Bros. acquired the studio in 2010, and it’s since worked on the multiplayer online battle arena Infinite Crisis, which featured comic book characters from the DC Universe.

Game of Thrones: Conquest is a massively multiplayer online strategy game where players will start their own houses and vie for power through either combat or political intrigue. The teaser trailer doesn’t show any gameplay, but it sounds as though players will get to go on the battlefield and possibly engage in real-time battle. This is a notably different tack than Disruptor Beam’s successful Game of Thrones: Ascent, which is heavily driven by characters and story with quite a bit of text.
