Eleague announced today that it is once again holding a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive major championship. The event will take place at Boston University’s Agganis Arena from January 26 to January 28. Teams will be competing for a $1 million prize pool.

Eleague will broadcast all of the live competition online at Twitch, Eleague.com, and Youtube. Additional programming will appear on cable through TBS. Turner, which owns that station, also runs Eleague. It was one of the first major companies from traditional TV to get into the esports game. Eleague started with Counter-Strike: GO in 2016. It has since also covered Overwatch and Street Fighter V.

In terms of total prize money given, Counter-Strike is the No. 2 most popular esport of 2017 after only Dota 2, according to E-sports Earnings.

“We’re looking forward to hosting our second Eleague Major in back-to- back years and bringing a CS:GO championship to Boston for the first time,” said Craig Barry, chief content officer at Turner Sports, in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “Following the record-setting engagement during last year’s Eleague Major, we appreciate Valve’s ongoing trust in us and all of the continued support from the esports community.”

Valve released Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for PC in 2012. The first-person shooter is an updated take on the original Counter-Strike, which started as a mod for the original Half-Life. It’s simple-to-understand team-based gameplay has made it one of the most popular competitive games of all time.
