Glu Mobile announced Darla Anderson, Oscar award-winning producer of Pixar’s animated film Coco, has joined the mobile game publisher’s board of directors.
Anderson was a 25-year veteran of Pixar Animation Studios, and she recently signed a development and production deal with Netflix. Her appointment comes at a time when (the lack of) female representation on the boards and executive ranks of tech and game companies is garnering more attention.
Glu makes female-focused games such as Covet Fashion and Design Home, while Anderson brings the perspective of a proven track record in successfully producing high-caliber entertainment
projects.

As Glu looks to continue building world-class growth games, Anderson is uniquely qualified to offer her creative expertise in developing engaging and unique experiences to delight audiences, the company said.

Prior to her current role at Netflix, the Academy Award winner joined Pixar Animation Studios in 1993, where she worked as a prolific producer until 2018. For over 25 years, her producing talents have contributed to some of the world’s most beloved and acclaimed animated feature films, including A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc., Cars, and Academy Award-winning Toy Story 3.
Anderson most recently produced Disney Pixar’s Coco, for which she earned the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. In her capacity as the film’s producer Anderson, along with director Lee Unkrich, innovated a new filmmaking paradigm at Pixar which not only elevated the voices of Mexican and Mexican American creatives, production staff, and cultural historians but also established a new creative process, which partnered filmmakers, production staff, marketing and consumer product development with Mexican cultural experts early in the filmmaking process.
Glu now has three women on its board, including Anderson, Gaby Toledano, and Ann Mather.
