Size matters: A 10-inch Apple TouchBook?

A report yesterday about touchscreens being made for what may or may not be an Apple netbook or tablet, contained basically no details. But a new report today claims to have more. Well, okay, one detail. Still, that’s progress!

While it’s still not clear if the rumored product will be a netbook or tablet (or a combo), two sources are confirming to Dow Jones Newswires that is does exist, and does feature a touchscreen. And the detail comes from a source who claims the device has a screen between 9.7 and 10 inches.

So, at least that rules out the possibility that the touchscreens are for a new iPhone or iPod touch.

The rest of the product specs and functions are “still under evaluation,” the source told Dow Jones.

Late last year, TechCrunch heard from three sources that Apple was working on a touchscreen device that would feature a 7 to 9-inch screen. So while this is close to that range, it technically doesn’t reside within it.

All of this is of course still fairly flimsy, and perhaps even more so because Apple certainly has the ability to kill products on a whim — even those already in development. But it’s fun to imagine such a product, isn’t it?
