Typekit founder Jeffrey Veen leaves Adobe for design gig at True Ventures

Jeffrey Veen is out at Adobe.

Today, the Typekit cofounder announced that he’s taking on a “design partner” role at True Ventures. With that new position, Veen leaves his job at Adobe behind. It’s been four years since Adobe acquired Typekit, Veen’s web-font service that largely created the market for web-licensed typefaces.

At Adobe, Veen held an executive role as the vice president of products. It’s not clear how Adobe plans to replace Veen — VentureBeat has reached out to the company for more details on the matter.

Going forward, Veen says he’ll focus “on helping True’s portfolio companies cultivate the best product and design work they possibly can and to seek out new companies who have that same passion.” So, he’ll play two roles: VC and design adviser.

Veen isn’t exactly blazing trails at True Ventures. The creation of his role follows Google Ventures’ long-term investment in in-house design partners as well as Khosla Ventures’ design-veteran-in residence, Irene Au.

Prior to his days at Typekit and Adobe, Veen co-created Measure Map, a service that Google eventually bought. Before that, Veen played a role in Wired‘s first web ventures, including HotWired and Web Monkey.
