Today Instagram completely disabled photo integration with Twitter, following a dramatic move by the photo sharing site earlier this week that made its photos appear cropped in the Twitter timeline. Now when you share an Instagram photo on Twitter, only a link to the photo on Instagram’s site will appear on your timeline.
Twitter officially acknowledged the change this afternoon, and a Facebook spokesperson confirmed it with AllThingsD.

The news doesn’t come as much of a surprise — VentureBeat’s Tom Cheredar noted earlier this week that Instagram could completely disable Twitter support at any point. Indeed, it’s clear that Instagram, and potentially its owner, Facebook, wants to separate the popular photo sharing service from Twitter.
But Twitter isn’t sitting still: Yesterday we reported that Twitter may be rushing to release its own spin on photo filters. While filters are only part of Instagram’s magic, having its own offering could help Twitter keep Instagram users who want to share media directly on their Twitter feeds.
