I'm doing something really weird for Know Your Role. So weird I don't even know if I'm following the prompt anymore. In any case, I hope what I wrote is…at all coherent.  I've provided an image of Spann Island as well.

Day 1

We received our first orders today and have arrived on Spann Island. Andrew, our commander, decided to deploy us, the Bazooka-wielding mech infantry unit, instead of four light-footed regular infantry. Most textbooks say he should do this in order to capture three cities by day three, so I don't know what he's planning, quite honestly. I've heard good things about his ability to repair units on the battlefield, though. We're close enough to one of the cities to be able to capture it, but I can't help but second guess his decision. He could've been three cities richer had he just deployed regular infantry, who can move much more quickly than we can.

I also second-guess his devotion to capture such a small, insignificant piece of land, but I'm not payed to think. I'm payed to keep these Orange-clad idiots with me alive.

Day 2

As I guessed it, Blue Moon drafted four regular infantry. They're going to have large economic advantage over us in the coming days. We just arrived here at the city about two spaces north of our base and are mingling with the townsfolk, trying to convince them to join us. Most cities don't fight invasion, since our agreement is a mutual one: they send us 1000G's every day and help us with our wounded and broken machines, and we provide them with supplies and protection. The city should fully belong to Orange Star by tomorrow morning at the latest.

Word is Andy's built himself a Recon truck unit. It'll let him approach the enemy quickly, sure, but I don't know about his long-term plan here; is he planning on capturing their headquarters or rout the enemy? A Recon isn't powerful enough to rout those infantry and we're not fast enough to effectively capture. I hope he knows what he's doing.

Day 3

We finished capturing the base and will head out for the bridge Northeast of here tomorrow, but reports have spotted an enemy Recon unit headed our way. This is going to be trouble. It's going to come down to who has the first strike, and I don't think this "crack team" of mine is going to get through this intact.

I've also heard that Andy's building nothing but Mechs from now on. I don't think this is going to go well.

Day 4

Enemy Recon unit's on the bridge and I'm pretty sure it's looking for us. We're not capturing the base like Andy told us to. I know what I'm doing. I can take these Recon trucks. Heard there's a mech unit planning to join us later on. As much as I hate to say it, I hope that it's them that're attacked instead of us.

Moved up a space. I'm keeping myself out of that Recon's range.

Day 4, Late Night

Thank god for fog of war, man. Recon decided to look for us in the woods and is now well within striking distance. Everyone here's scared about taking that thing on, but it's not going to go away. It's now or never.

Heard Andy's Recon unit is doing well. It can hassle infantry units pretty well, but we'll see how a Recon handles a mech. And so will my unit, I guess.

Day 6

Fought the Recon unit for about a day an a half. We survived with only one casualty. I never really knew Marcus, but I hope he rests in piece. Andy, if you're reading this, this could've been avoided if you were a better Commanding Officer. But you don't care, do you? Marcus is just another number, and with that Recon unit gone, this battle was a victory for you, wasn't it?

Motherfucker.

We were joined by another mech unit, but only one of their team could stay. The rest of them magically vanished into funds for the army. I still don't get how that works.

A tank passed as as we set up camp earlier. The team knows I want to get rid of it. And we will.

Day 7

We lost another guy to that tank. We had help from another unit, but that doesn't change the fact that we've got one dead and one wounded. Instead of joining up, we decided to roll together about one space apart. Pretty sure there'll be more tanks on the way, though.

We're having a blizzard tonight courtesy of that Blue Moon bastard Olaf. As much as I think Andy is incompetent, I can't stand those Blue Moon men. I know what I'm fighting for. Color dominance.

Oh, and surprise surprise, Andy went back on his promise and started building tanks to match Olaf's. Idiot.

I hear there's some intense fighting down south of the island. I'm not worrying about it too much.

Day 9

It doesn't feel right, doing this. After the tank assault… I just feel bad picking up other people's things. But I have to.

Heather, I know you loved Clark very much, but I'm sending this back to let you know he's dead. A BM tank hit their unit hard early in the morning.  Andy's Hyper Repair, which would've healed his wounded and revived his dead, was a day late.

I'm not sure why they did it. We had 4 mech units set up in proximity, so rushing the weakest unit was a death wish. He only killed one person in my unit. I think one of the men on their unit must've known someone their unit that was killed. I'm terribly sorry for your loss. We couldn't even find his body since bullets just make people fly away.

I can hear Andy's theme playing on all the radios. I guess it's supposed to inspire us, but it's not doing its job right now.

Your friend,

Arnold.

P.S. So I guess this means you're single?
