Blaise Zerega is Editor in Chief of VentureBeat. An award-winning writer and editor, Blaise brings a proven record of reporting on technology innovation, private and public capital, and company formation. He traces his love for Silicon Valley to his time at Reference Software where in 1992, faster than you can say Hummer Winblad, WordPerfect acquired the startup.

Prior to joining VentureBeat, Blaise was CEO of FORA.tv from 2009-2014, then a leading site for videos from the world’s best conferences and events. FORA.tv was named a Best 50 Website by TIME,, a Top Education Site by the U.K.’s Telegraph, and dubbed a “Netflix for Nerds’ by Gigaom.

Previously, Blaise served as Deputy Editor of Condé Nast Portfolio, where he helped found both Portfolio.com and the magazine. Both properties earned the highest industry honors. Blaise was also the Managing Editor of WIRED. There, he helped earn numerous prizes, including a National Magazine Award for General Excellence in 2004 and another for the Single-Topic Issue category in 2002. Additionally, he was The Editor of Red Herring magazine, once the bible of Silicon Valley, and the News Editor of Forbes ASAP.

Blaise's media appearances include such television shows as Today and The View as well as programs on NPR and CNN. He graduated from New York University and received his graduate degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin.
