Kim Schaefer is the president of Two Bit Circus, a Los Angeles-based experiential entertainment company. Kim drives all aspects of bringing the circus to life and works with the team to drive the latest in high-tech carnival gaming and immersive entertainment for fun seekers of all ages.
Prior to Two Bit Circus, Kim served as CEO (2009 - 2015) of Great Wolf Resorts, Inc., the largest owner, operator, and developer in North America of drive-to family resorts, which featured indoor waterparks and other family-oriented entertainment activities. The company sold in 2015 for $1.4 billion.
As public company CEO, her primary responsibility was overseeing the daily aspects of the strategy of the brand, development, and operations as well as investor and analyst relations and strategy.
She previously served as chief operating officer from 2005 to 2009 of the company and as a chief brand officer from 2004 to 2005. From 1997 until the completion of the initial purchase offering in 2004, Kim served as senior vice president of operations for its predecessor, The Great Lakes Companies, Inc.
Kim is currently an independent board member for public company, EdR, an owner, operator, and developer of collegiate housing.
Kim holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Edgewood College, Madison, Wisconsin. She continues her alumnus involvement by serving on the school’s Board of Trustees.
An avid walker and reader in her spare time, Kim is most proud of her husband of more than 25 years and their two wonderful kids, Samantha and Max.
