Vic Gundotra, one of Google’s most visible product chiefs, has left the company.
In a Google+ post, the exec gave no clues about his next move, saying, “Now is the time for a new journey. A continuation. … I am excited about what’s next. But this isn’t the day to talk about that.”
At his departure, Gundotra held the title Senior Vice President, Social. As such, he was responsible for the creation and growth of Google+, the company’s overarching social strategy.
He had been at Google for nearly eight years. Prior to that, he worked at Microsoft.

He will be replaced in his role by engineering VP David Besbris.
