This may be the year of the smartwatch after all.

A new chart from Statista suggests that wrist wearables such as fitness trackers and smartwatches will largely drive the growing wearable market. Of the 45.7 million wearables expected to ship this year, a recent report from IDC shows that 90 percent will for the wrists.

Though overall wearable shipments are expected to nearly triple by 2019, the chart below demonstrates that no device will come close to outpacing the wrist wearable any time soon.

Between these stats and Google shutting down its Google Glass Explorer program earlier this year, it seems the world just isn’t ready to more gadgets on faces.
