Laurene Powell Jobs has proposed building a 15,689-square-foot estate on land her late husband, Steve Jobs, acquired in 1984. While the original proposal was submitted almost a year ago, the plans are moving toward approval by the town of Woodside.
The proposal for the land not only includes a sumptuous new residence, but would create an agricultural wonderland where the family would be able to raise livestock, press olive oil, make wine, and plant a large vegetable garden.
The development will be closely watched in Woodside. It comes several years after Steve Jobs, who died in 2011, won a lengthy legal battle against preservationists for the right to tear down an historic mansion that previously stood on the property.
