Slack, a startup with increasingly popular software that employees can use to communicate with one another, today introduced a feature for its Slack Plus tier of service that could put big companies’ regulatory concerns at ease. It’s a way for admins to export all messages out of the cloud-based application.
To meet these specific needs of this group of companies, Slack has built a feature called Compliance Exports as part of the Slack Plus plan — the level above the Standard Plan.
“It allows team owners of organizations using the Plus plan to export all their team communications subject to their team message retention and deletion policies,” recent Slack hire Anne Toth, the company’s new vice president of policy and compliance strategy, wrote in a blog post.
The new feature works across all groups, not just for messages that go out to every company employee using Slack.

What’s more, Compliance Exports will keep track of direct messages, as well as attempts to delete specific messages from Slack.
Slack has also revised its privacy policy and terms of service, Toth wrote in the blog post.
Slack has now racked up more than 300,000 daily active users, according to the latest statistics from the startup. Customers include Amazon.com, Cisco, Google’s YouTube, and Time Warner.
