David Karp, CEO of the Yahoo-owned social blogging site Tumblr, went on CNBC’s Squawk Box program today to talk about the FCC’s yes vote on network neutrality.
Unfortunately, the segment wasn’t nearly the feel-good moment that the vote itself was earlier today.
The show’s cranky-looking commentators had their questions at the ready, but the presumably media-savvy Karp struggled to answer even the most basic ones.
Mainly, he failed to explain why there’s very little competition in the wired and wireless broadband markets.

He also could not explain why AT&T is clearly bluffing when it says it’ll stop investing in networks when broadband is regulated like a public utility. (Answer: There’s just too damn much money to be made.)
Maybe CNBC is wishing it had brought on someone a bit better prepared to shed light on the situation.
