Internet Meme Overload: Guile Theme Goes with Everything

This post has not been edited by the GamesBeat staff. Opinions by GamesBeat community writers do not necessarily reflect those of the staff.

Fads come and go, and on the internet, they do so much more quickly. Something that's interesting or repeatable for whatever reason — be it funny, gross, or just cool — become extremely popular, make themselves known across the internet, and eventually die out as quickly as they came. It's a harsh cycle, but it certainly adheres to the proverbial fifteen minutes of fame.

But some memes will always be bigger than others. The collection of memes that reached the mainstream can be summed up in little more than a single music video, but as some of you who browse the internet more frequently know, there are always those that never quite reach a larger audience.

This is a much longer introduction than was needed to say that I'm going to post a bunch of meme-related videos. The "Guile Theme Goes With Everything" one in particular involves a putting scenes from movies, TV shows, or any other kind of video to prove that Guile's — Yes, Street Fighter's Guile — stage theme music can be put to anything and be appropriate.

The purpose of this is to introduce some of you to this recent minor trend, as well as to try to purge it from my system, because I've watched far too many of these things. I've also set the theme as my ringtone to help the process along.

So without further ado, here's how some of you are going to spend your next hour or so. I've linked to them for now, until I can figure out how to embed youtube videos on here.

Guile's Theme Goes with The Microsoft E3 2010 Press conference.

–Yes, yes it does. The timing on almost every move is perfect.

Guile's Theme Goes with The Lion King.

— Just like good method actors, the Guile theme can do drama as well. Funny how the same tones can sound sad when used correctly.

Guile's Theme Goes with Susan Boyle.

— Again expressing the full range of the theme's expression, we hear a rendition of Susan Boyle that expresses her joy and the audience's surprise. And, this is a meme two-fer!

Guile's Theme Goes with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

— Guile's theme can do comedy as well. The routine, much like the E3 2010 one, is perfectly timed.

Guile's Theme Goes with Rocky IV.

— Intense action is Guile's backyard, so it's no surprise that it can do fight scenes. But you guys want video games, right?

Guile's Theme Goes with Metal Gear Solid.

— I like Metal Gear better when when the plot isn't so complicated. And when they used retro music during their torture sequences.

Guile's Theme Goes with Maury.

— Look at that dude! He's ecstatic! The theme is used here as a theme of both joy and sorrow.

Guile's Theme Goes with Poker.

— This is one of more controversial quality, but all I will say is "payoff". Or "payback," as the case may be. Just know that Lederer is the one in the black jacket, blue shirt, and smug attitude.

Guile's Theme Goes with Pulp Fiction.

— Guile lays his vengeance up thee.

Guile's Theme Goes with The Hangover.

— To steal a phrase from of the Youtube comments: Fat Zangief V.S. Young Guile: make your bets…

Guile's Theme Goes with Uncharted 2.

— This video also has a 96 on Metacritic. to get the full Uncharted 2 experience, though, play it twice. The second time, be bored with it.

Guile's Theme Goes with Metal Gear Solid 3

— I may be double-dipping on a franchise here, but just pretend Guile is fighting Sagat and Cammy is flying the plane.

Guile's Theme Goes with Power Rangers

— A perfect 90's time machine.

Guile's Theme Goes with Daigo's Full Parry

— Who would've though Guile's Theme would go so well with Street Fighter match?

Guile's Theme Goes with Scooby-Doo

— I remember when Hana-Barabara asked Capcom for licencing rights.

Guile's Theme Goes with Amadeus

— And then Guile's Theme won an Oscar.

Guile's Theme Goes with Forrest Gump

— This is how Charlie died.

Guile's Theme Goes with Goldeneye

— This video, much like the game, will not age well.

Guile's Theme Goes with Saving Private Ryan

— Guile knows a thing or two about war.

Guile's Theme Goes with The Dark Knight

— Guile's Theme does pseudo-noir.

Guile's Theme Goes with Rambo 4

— A revamped Guile Rambo needs a revamped theme.

So there you have it. Hopefully, you're now totally sick of these videos, as I hope to be in the near future. If you're still hungering for some, though, I'm sure there are plenty more and even more not yet made.
