I cleared a huge hurdle. I managed to produce a second episode of my video-game-culture webshow, One Million Hit Points. Actually, this is the premiere since the last one (with the senior citizens playing Wii Sports bowling) was technically the pilot. I’m confident that episode one is at least seven times better than episode zero. Wait….
In all honesty, though, I’m super excited about how this came out. We have Nathan Vella, president and co-founder of developer Capybara games, sharing some lesser-known facts about the point-and-click-adventure Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP for the iPad. He discusses pixelated body parts, scrapped design decisions, and a hidden bonus track in the music-driven cult classic.
We visited an amazing, independent retro-video-game store called A & J Games. The shop is essentially a museum dedicated to the last 35 years of retail releases. There, I talked to the owner, Gary Owens. He is, without a doubt, one of the nicest, most laid-back guys I’ve ever met. He specializes in reuniting fans with their inner childhood players.
Rounding out the episode are new video-game-and-Los-Angeles mashup segments, some beats I’ve made, and a special gaming memory from a world-class Quidditch player (serious!).

Special thanks goes out to Evan Sullivan, the stellar cinematographer I’ve been working with. He actually caught the 1MHP premiere on Bitmob, got in touch with me to see if I’d be down to collaborate, and now we’re making cool shit together.
