SocialRank’s new tool gives enterprises insights about their followers

SocialRank has launched an enterprise product that will give brands, agencies, and organizations more information about who follows them on social media. Called SocialRank for Teams, it’s a collaborative team product that lets individual employees conduct research and gather intelligence on the customers interested in the company’s social media presence.

It has also publicly launched its market intelligence tool, which users will find helpful. It will enable them to gain a better understanding of who exactly are they talking to across Twitter and Instagram.

Company cofounder Alex Taub said that his customers weren’t really interested in who their most engaged follower was — they wanted to know why someone was following them on social media in the first place. Businesses are spending countless hours and money trying to amass huge audiences on sites like Twitter, but at the end of the day, they won’t really know anything about the people who follow them.

With the launch of SocialRank for teams, Taub’s company has laid the foundation for the creation of a social audience CRM platform, the equivalent of Salesforce, but specifically for people, not content. Every company can have a dedicated URL such as venturebeat.socialrank.com — just like you have with Slack. Admins can create multiple channels (“departments”) and then add team members, who will then log in using their email address.

SocialRank for Teams #2

The system offers permissions that let you control what access an individual user will have, such as whether they can read the data only, access accounts, send direct messages or follow someone through SocialRank, add new users or admins, create new departments, and more.

The point of using SocialRank for Teams is to glean some useful intelligence so you have a better understanding of why someone was engaging with you or following you at all. This is powered through SocialRank’s Market Intelligence product, which is now available to the public after being in beta since 2014. You can search for follower information based on a specific keyword, like finding out who is an engineer, designer, or journalist. Or maybe which one has worked at a particular company before? Or who lives in New York versus San Francisco?

But it’s about more than just gathering intelligence — it helps you engage with your followers as well. While you may know who the biggest, best, and most influential follower you have is, that’s not enough — you need to be able to have a relationship with that individual to know how to better serve them and understand whether you’re really attracting the right people. SocialRank’s Market Intelligence product offers up that data from Twitter and Instagram.

If you’re so inclined, you could also match up your followers against your competitors’ to find out if they’re similar at all. The results could be telling about whether your social media strategy is paying off or not.

But here’s the catch: While you can use SocialRank for Teams right now for free, the market intelligence product is rolling out slowly. The company said you can email it to request earlier access.

SocialRank is already thinking about future additions to its product, including offering up notes, lists, and the ability to track campaign performance, as well as using what it calls “scalable private communication.”
