Earlier today we found out that ghosts are real. That is to say that Call of Duty: Ghosts from publisher Activision is due out later this year.
The company confirmed the latest entry in the first-person shooter for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and next-gen systems. That includes a specific nod to Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox that is getting a full announcement on May 21.
Oddly, Activision failed to mention anything about a Wii U version of Call of Duty: Ghosts, and online retailers — like GameStop and Amazon — have preorders available only for PC, 360, and PS3.

We contacted Activision and Nintendo to ask if a Wii U version is even in the works. We will update when either company responds.
“I’m sorry to relay that there is not yet information to share on CoD: Ghosts and Wii U,” a GameStop spokesperson told GamesBeat. “I can confirm that preorders are open to PS3, 360, and PC, but that’s all that’s known at this time.”
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be available for current-gen platforms on Nov. 5. Activision will announce details for the game on next-generation platforms at a future date, likely after Microsoft’s May Xbox event.
It’s possible that Activision has a deal with Microsoft to not discuss the game on any next-gen console except for the new Xbox. As part of that deal, the companies might consider the Wii U a “next-gen system.”
