His podcast, which launched Aug. 31 with CinnamonToastKen (Ken Morrison) focuses on gaming, YouTube, and whatever else captures the duo’s interest. The second installment, which posted Sept. 7, had gained 2.6 million views by Sunday.
“A lot of people didn’t seem to understand what a podcast is. We’re their first podcast. We take their virginity because a lot of people would just be like, ‘What is this? It’s so long,‘” Kjellberg quipped at the start of the second hour-long episode. “But it’s like … that’s the point.”
PewDiePie joins other notable gamers on Major League Gaming’s 120 MLG.tv channels. The video site launched in late 2013 and mostly features top teams from MLG’s eSports focus, including British team Gfinity, Australia’s ACL Pro, U.S. team UMG, Call of Duty pro players Nadeshot and Scumpii, multi-game teams like OpTic Gaming, and other celebrities, such as MMA fighter Scott Jorgensen.
“Our vision for MLG.tv is to make it the home for premium content and producers like PewDiePie and his show ‘BroKen,'” said Ryan “Fwiz” Wyatt, MLG vice president of programming. The company claims the free site is one of the fastest-growing digital networks worldwide.
