Strange survival-horror game Deadly Premonition gets new Director's Cut

The developer updated the game with new graphics and controls as well as new story scenarios.

Developer Access Games’ weird, ugly, and beloved Deadly Premonition gets new content in a rerelease for the PlayStation 3.

Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut brings new high-definition graphics, updated controls, new story scenarios, and postcampaign downloadable content to the 2010 release.

The plot follows FBI special agent Francis York Morgan as he investigates a murder in the fictional town of Greenvale. It gets a lot stranger than that as the hero uncovers more murders and begins to talk to an unseen character named “Zach.”

The game has a cult following who loves it for its eccentricities. Fans often apply the “it’s so bad, it’s good” badge of honor to it. Deadly Premonition also holds the rather narrowly defined Guinness World Record for “Most Critically Polarizing Survival-Horror Game,” as some reviewers loved it and others despised it.

Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut does not yet have a price.
