Maybe The Elder Scrolls Online isn’t such a bomb after all.
Bethesda announced during its Electronic Entertainment Expo event today that its online role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls Online, has over 7 million players. It didn’t specify if this was active players or just representative of copies sold or accounts made, but it’s an impressive number either way. The Elder Scrolls Online is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The game is also removing level restrictions that used to keep players out of certain areas. Now, players can access any part of The Elder Scrolls Online after they finish its tutorial.
Bethesda also announced that the online game is coming out this June in Japan.
The Elder Scrolls Online had a rocky launch, with fans complaining that it felt closed off and simpler than the single-player releases in the series. Bethesda has won back support by releasing new content and adding features. It also ditched monthly subscriptions.
