Nintendo created an incredible playground for you to explore and experiment in with its latest Zelda. And sometimes the best way to evade bullies on a playground is to get them to fight each other.
The easiest way to describe The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is “I didn’t know you could do that.” The open-world adventure debuted March 3 for Switch and Wii U, and players are still discovering new things that are possible, and these are appearing daily. For example, did you know that you can get some of the larger enemies to fight one another. Let’s say you’re running from one of the horrifying Guardian machines and you stumble into the den of the Stone Talus rock monster. You’re doomed, right?
Not necessarily.
In a video on Twitter, one player (Dorkly editor Tristan Cooper) showed what happens when a Guardian and a Stone Talus are both trying to kill you:

What’s best about the Guardian turning on the Stone Talus is that it wasn’t a random act. You can see that Cooper uses the Stasis rune to freeze the death machine in the path of the Talus’s swing. After it wakes up, the Guardian then decides to focus its devastating beam on the new threat instead.
This moment can only work if Nintendo programmed these enemies to act and respond to damage and threats regardless of who or what is dishing it out. It would probably be easier to just tell the Guardian to target the player, but it’s way cooler that the enemies can instead process and respond to their environment instead.
