The Oculus Rift is sure keeping a lot of people on hold. The upcoming virtual reality headset “that won’t make you barf” (our words) isn’t nearly ready for consumers — the development kits just started shipping out. And at last week’s Game Developers Conference, attendees waited up to two hours to get their hands/eyes on a working demo just to see what the fuss is about.
Parent company Oculus VR, however, did have a simple plan to make the long wait at GDC a bit more tolerable. “We felt bad,” said senior product manager Joseph Chen about the developers waiting in line, “so we let them draw on our walls. We just provided the markers.”
