Konami announced today that Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links has reached 90 million downloads on PC and mobile.
Yu-Gi-Oh Duel is a free-to-play digital card game. It released in Japan in 2016, with a worldwide rollout following in 2017. Duel Links has become a healthy source of revenue for Konami. According to mobile market analyst Sensor Tower, the mobile versions made $5 million in February alone.
Yu-Gi-Oh is a popular multimedia franchise that encompasses a physical card game, anime, and more. Duel Links follows the same rules as the physical card game, but its decks use less cards and other changes help make it a faster-paced experience.
Konami has had the video game rights to Yu-Gi-Oh since the release of the first Yu-Gi-Oh game, Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories for the PlayStation, in 1999. In 2015, Konami began shifting its focus away from console games to focus on other sectors, including mobile games.
