Amazon has unveiled the latest perk for Prime members in the U.S.: access to “over a thousand” Kindle books, comics, magazines, and more.
With Prime Reading, those paying for Amazon’s $99 annual subscription can access a selection of reading material through their Kindle or Kindle Fire, as well as through the Kindle app for Android and iOS. Titles available now include “The Man in the High Castle,” the Philip K. Dick novel upon which Amazon’s Original show is based; “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone;” “The Hobbit;” and National Geographic. The selection will actually rotate, similar to Amazon Prime Video, meaning that over time you should be able to read titles that aren’t on there for launch.
Prime Reading is the latest in a long line of perks introduced by Amazon to sweeten the deal for subscribers. Last month, it rolled out Audible Channels for audiobooks and short-form broadcasts, which is in addition to music- and video-streaming services, free deliveries on goods, and access to the Prime Now restaurant delivery service.
This isn’t the first time Amazon has aligned Prime with its Kindle business, however, as the company already offers Prime members the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, which effectively lets them borrow one book a month for no extra charge.

While Prime Reading may not tempt serious bookworms on board, for those already signed up it does serve as a nice added benefit. And for those thinking about signing up, this could help seal the deal.
