HTC is working on a pair of mid-range, Desire-class smartphones for release later this quarter, according to someone briefed on the company’s plans. The phones will be branded in line with the company’s 2016 flagship, the HTC 10, said the person, as the Desire 10 Pro and Desire 10 Lifestyle. Only details of the latter handset were shared with VentureBeat.
The 5.5-inch Desire 10 Lifestyle will come in several different colors, all of which will feature a metallic gold trim on the edges and around key hardware elements like the camera lens, flash, and antenna cutouts. It should feature matte, solid color finishes, and not the speckled appearance of Desire models introduced earlier this year.
Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and skinned with HTC Sense, the lower-spec’ed Lifestyle model is said to run a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor of unknown speed. It’s got an HD resolution of 720 x 1280, or 720p. Memory will come in two configurations, and will vary by market: either 3GB RAM / 32GB storage or 2GB / 16GB.
The main, rear camera should feature a 13-megapixel, backside-illuminated (BSI) sensor and single LED flash, while the front-facing camera is said to offer a 5-megapixel resolution whose sensor is also of the BSI variety. Both front and rear cameras are capable of full HD, 1080p video recording.

Audio is rarely an afterthought in HTC products, and the Desire 10 Lifestyle is no exception, offering so-called Boomsound Hi-Fi Edition stereo speakers along with 24-bit system audio. In addition, it will ship with higher quality earbuds whose increased frequency range is intended to take advantage of the enhanced audio output.
Both the Desire 10 Lifestyle and Desire 10 Pro are supposedly set to launch near the end of September. No pricing details were revealed.
