Microsoft is sending out kinda-sorta functional, cardboard-crafted versions of its Surface Pro tablet to raise awareness about the device launching in 25 different countries soon.
While the cardboard versions of the Surface are little more than marketing promotional materials, they do feature a working display that shows a low resolution video with the Surface Pro’s new specs. It also features a mini USB port to power/charge the cardboard “tablet.”
Microsoft is delivering several of these cardboard Surface tablets to schools in Australia, touting the devices’ appeal for students and teachers. The Surface Pro 3 launch itself is kicking off August 28 in Australia, China, Germany, the UK, and several other international markets.
