Traveling abroad? This ought to pique your interest. Yelp just updated its iOS app to be more useful for non-English reviews. It now has the Bing Translator integrated, allowing you to translate foreign language reviews with a simple tap of the screen.
The new feature works with the 15 languages Yelp currently supports including English, Danish, German, Spanish, French, Turkish, and Japanese to name a few. You can opt to have a single review translated or you can have them all translated at once, it’s up to you.
Of course, automated translations are never 100 percent correct. In fact, they can be rather funny at times. Still, Yelp is confident the integration of Bing Translator will mean more people can get a general sense of what a reviewer said. This would be really helpful when traveling to a country whose language you don’t speak. You could more readily find a local eatery that serves up an awesome dining experience without having to consult the well-worn path travel guides offer.
You can get the latest version of the iOS Yelp app from the App Store now. An Android version is on the way, too, but Yelp has yet to specify just how soon that will be.
