You can buy a OnePlus 2 without an invite starting December 5

Just days after offering the OnePlus 2 on open sale as part of a Black Friday special, boutique smartphone maker OnePlus has announced that the phone will be sold indefinitely without the invitation requirement, starting at midnight on December 5.

Coinciding with the OPPO spinoff’s second anniversary, the elimination of invitations for its flagship device is a somewhat seminal moment for the company, whose solution to inventory management has drawn the ire of many a smartphone enthusiast eager to purchase one of its high-spec, low-cost handsets.

Invitations, however, are not gone for good: The OnePlus X, a recently introduced, even more budget-friendly model, will still require an invite for purchase. That restriction is briefly being lifted during a three-day holiday sale, from December 5 through December 7, mirroring the open sale over the Black Friday weekend.
